Dreaming big & Fearing less

I was listening to a podcast recently and one of the people said “fonders have a combination of fearlessness and naïveté”

I would like to be a founder. But I worry that I fear too much to truly be successful. I worry a lot and I think in most of my startup I have been too negative. I have always been more a doubter than a believer. I have also noticed lately in talks with my siblings that all of us struggle to have big dreams. When I ask Jacob what his dream is he says “to pay rent” Mary says “to make a living with music” the problem with this is that there is very little to aspire to. So if you don’t make it to that goal you have very little to show for it.

I similarly have said that my ambition is to run a lifestyle software business. More of an indie hacker than a Zuckerberg.

But I think the problem with this is that if you don’t aspire to be Zuckerberg you might just always be nobody. If you aspire to be nobody then you will almost assuredly.

So the moral is dream big and pursue your dreams fearlessly. Be the person you want to be and don’t second guess yourself.
