The Spend Trap

There has never been a time in history where spending money was as easy as it currently is. Every item in the world is at your fingertips with the internet google and amazon make finding the thing you want easy and then payment apps like shop make checking out super fast. The time from want to purchased is almost instant. This means that there are lots of things that are purchased which previously probably wouldn’t have.

It means that the people helping to complete all of your random desires have become unbelievably wealthy.

It means that buying and having things can never make you interesting.

The old hunt for unique items exists in some contexts but on the whole has largely been diminished by instant purchases from big box retailers.

Because buying has become so instant you have to develop personal tools to resist the mindless consumption that comes with this ease and accessibility.

The purchases that are worth it are things like books that you interact with and use and give expand your life. But then there are books that just sit in the shelf and are never read.

It’s just important to recognize that buying has become incredibly easy and it is a trap that is developed. Many people will fall for the trap. Don’t let yourself be one of them.
