Thoughtful consumption can be inspirational.
A lot of time consumption is just passive and not really a flow state of any sort. But under certain circumstances it can actually be quite powerful. This is the case specifically with music. Because i have a back ground in playing music if i focus on music I can sometimes find a piece of music that makes me want to play music and copy it and figure out how it was done.
Inspiration is a powerful thing. In my mind it is essential for art and creativity. One of the hardest parts for my creative process is staying inspired. lol. That and actually finishing projects. I do think that keeping projects has made me more focused on finishing projects.
But back to the main point. Inspiration in your desired art is very important. Thus thoughtful consumption in your chosen medium is an important part of educating yourself. Stay curious. Keep searching for things that inspire you. Keep searching for things that resonate with you and make you want to create.
